current skill-set:

☄ wards / protection: sigils for a person's home - hope you don't love your woodwork too much, though. or and charms that can be worn or placed.
☄ cleansing / purification: ridding spaces of bad energies, getting the good vibes going.
☄ banishment: purging spirits/forces, particularly evil ones from people and spaces.
☄ curse dispelling: someone done a bit of doozy on you? maybe you're talking permanently backwards or you've grown horns? maybe your grandma's necklace is actually a cursed object. he's your guy. but if someone cursed your firstborn, that's a bit out of his league for now.
☄ healing: exactly what it says on the tin. cuts and bruises are child's play, serious injuries are going to take supplies and a lot of energy, something he's often reluctant to do.

future skills / developments

☄ barrier magic: capable of creating physical barrier shields.
☄ prophetic dreams: able to predict the future in the form of dreams.
☄ healing: able to heal without physical contact/limited physical contact.
☄ energy saver: casting spells will require less energy.
☄ clairsentience: the ability to see the true appearance of supernatural beings.

notes / limitations

magic limitations:

☄ sensitive to malevolent forces: being in the presence of evil forces will slowly weaken Niven, especially for extended periods of time. he is sensitive to them. He will slowly become ill and weak, turning feverish and nauseous.
☄ life energy for spells: the cost of Niven's magic is his own energy. casting spells will exhaust him and he will need time to recover from them. more powerful healing spells could potentially harm him (ie. healing his mother actually hurt and would cause him to pass out for a day or so).
☄ healing limitations: fatal injuries of a malevolent supernatural origin as well as resurrection are no go areas.

notes:

☄ niven is sensitive to malevolent energy/presences and is able to sense them when/where others cannot. it's almost like a strange taste in the mouth and a cold burning in the fingers.
☄ similarly, he is also sensitive to benevolent energy/presences and able to sense them when/where others cannot. it's a more pleasant sensation.
☄ incantations are largely spoken in scots gaelic, some are in latin.
